Amid this COVID-19 pandemic robots have aided significantly in all types of industries. Hospitals are using robots to bring nurses medication/supplies. Manufacturing companies are using robots instead of humans to create /deliver products. In Christianburg VIrginia librarian Kelley Passek is using drones to deliver books to children. Although robotics/machine automation is helping companies operate in compliance with pandemic control measures, experts question what the long term implications of robotics/automation will be in rehiring individuals into the workplace once the pandemic subsides. A New York Times article titled "Robots Welcome to Take Over, as Pandemic Accelerates Automation" the author states the following:

“People become more expensive as companies’ revenues decline,” he said.A new wave of automation could also mean that when companies start hiring again, they do so in smaller numbers. This may be one of those situations when automation does substantially depress rehiring,” Mr. Muro said. “You may see fewer workers when the recovery does come.”

This makes me ponder and question as we are adjusting to the "new norms during the pandemic, post pandemic will introduce a whole new set of "new norms". Life as we once knew it may never be the same.
