LET US TALK ABOUT EMOTIONAL ABUSE

Emotional abuse is a form of brain-washing that slowly erodes the victim's sense of self-worth, security, and trust in themselves and others. In many ways, it is more detrimental than physical abuse because it slowly disintegrates one's sense of self and personal value.

Hi Fitzgerald
I have to agree with you. Just because there is is no physical mark does not mean there is no abuse. Emotional abuse is not as easy to detect. Meanwhile the victim's self esteem/self worth is being chipped away. It is so sad to know that many individuals are involved in such a situation and don't know how to get out of it. Many times they develop a dependency to the abuser.

Emotional abuse can happen to anyone at any time in their lives. Children, teens and adults all experience emotional abuse. And emotional abuse can have devastating consequences on relationships and all those involved. Just because there is no physical mark doesn't mean the abuse isn't real and isn't a problem or even a crime in some countries

Most important and burning global issue in the recent times.Lack of sufficient manpower to manage it atleast in India is a glaring factor. The Indian Association of Child And Adolescent Mental-health (IACAM) of which I am a Life Fellow member since 4years, is trying to do something fruitful but results are not yet encouraging mostly due to regional differences among the professionals.

It is not sexy when one cry... although emotional abuse is not newsworthy to our current culture, it is an extremely dangerous public health issue. The worst part is, it happens and is mostly by the most intimate partner, which makes it harder to identify and intervene. Because, it is subtle...

It is definitely detrimental to the entire future career of the affected person sometimes even with detailed counselling because some of them get themselves in to psychiatric morbidity which may, of course, be moderated by their genetic suscesptibility.

Well, it is also called Corrosive Love or malignant manipulation. Most victims do not recognize it.

It's very much true.Emotional abuse is more difficult to identify and also to manage. This needs careful tactics in obtaining history and observation of the body language of the affected person. This has poor prognosis unless detected early with high index of suspician!
